David S. Katz

David Katz is a founding partner of the Law Offices of Katz & Phillips, P.A.  Mr. Katz limits his practice almost exclusively to the area of DUI defense.  For More than 5 years, Mr. Katz has focused his practice on  DUI defense.     Prior to opening his own law firm, Mr. Katz was the lead DUI prosecutor in Seminole County, Florida, where he received training directly from the manufacture of the Intoxilyzer 8000 on the device during meetings with the company’s president.  The Intoxilyzer 8000 is currently the only machine in use in Florida for evidentiary breath testing.  As far as we are aware, Mr. Katz is the only Defense Attorney in Florida to have training from the manufacture of the machine.

David Katz has been the featured speaker at both local and national DUI conferences, where he has help teach attorneys from all across the country DUI trial skills. Mr. Katz has spoken and taught about every aspect of the DUI trial and on how to deal with breath test result including how to get the suppressed so a jury will not hear about them and what to do if the results are admitted against your client at trial.

Mr. Katz has also recently been awarded the recognition of Board Certification as a DUI Defense Expert from the National College of DUI Defense.  Mr. Katz is one of only two attorneys in the state of Florida who has passed the Board Certification Exam.  Although this certification is recognized by many states throughout the United States, the State of Florida does not yet recognize DUI as a specialized area of law and therefore does not recognize DUI Board Certification.

In addition to Board Certification, David Katz has received many awards, including a Client Choice Award from AVVO, and a preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.  Further, Mr. Katz was the only attorney whose practice focused on DUI defense to be included in Newsweek Magazines 2012 National Showcase of Leading Criminal Lawyers published in October 2012.

Most Recently, David Katz received the 2013 Client Distinction Award from Martindale-Hubbell.  This award is given to less than 4% of the over 900,000 attorneys listed nationally on Martindale Hubbell’s websites.
